Padmashri Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundations Medical College & Hospital (commonly referred to as VIMS Ahmednagar) was established in 2003–2004 by the Vikhe Patil Foundation, under the vision of Padma Shri Vithalrao Vikhe Patil. The college is affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and recognized by the National Medical Commission.
Campus & Facilities:
- Situated on a serene 33-acre campus in Vilad Ghat, Ahmednagar.
- Attached multi-specialty teaching hospital with around 990–990 beds, offering broad and critical care services.
- Departments include Medicine, Surgery, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, and more. Supports advanced services with ICUs, NICU/PICU, a cardiac cath lab, NICU, and diagnostic imaging (CT scan, MRI).

Courses Offered:
- Undergraduate (MBBS): 200 seats (4.5 years academic + 1-year internship); seat expansion from 150 to 200 was approved gradually, reaching full capacity by 2021
- Postgraduate (MD/MS): Around 10 specialties with 29 seats in total, divided across Merit (50%), Institute Quota (35%), and NRI/PIO/Foreign (15%) categories
Admission Process:
- MBBS: Through NEET-UG followed by counseling via Maharashtra State CET Cell. Seat distribution: 85% State merit, 15% NRI/PIO/Foreign seats
- MD/MS: Through NEET-PG and subsequent counseling; allocated as 50% merit, 35% institute quota, 15% NRI/PIO/Foreign
- Final admissions are based on document verification and fee submission.
Placements & Recruiters:
- PG students have reported median packages around ₹18 LPA with placements in reputed hospitals.
- MBBS graduates complete a structured 1-year internship in the attached teaching hospital for practical exposure.
